Many classrooms in our communities are using the News in Education (NIE) program to teach geography, history, language arts, science, math, the arts and more. The Standard-Times and Cape Cod Times publish special serialized stories and features that help teachers address state standards.
Teachers not only receive classroom sets of newspapers; they also receive frameworks-compatible teaching guides to use with the newspaper.
News in Education helps students enhance their critical reading skills, become better consumers and develop a deeper awareness of the world around them.
How Can You Help?
- Discuss current events with your children.
- Let your children see you reading the newspaper.
- Sponsor your child's classroom through our "Adopt a Classroom" program (S-T) (CCT)
- When you go on vacation, donate your papers to News in Education. Every newspaper you donate puts four newspapers in a classroom. Vacation Donation (S-T) (CCT)
